Woman's Sandal (2002.01.0001A)

A right-footed, woman's sandal. A short, rubber heel is attached to the white, leather sole by steel tacks. The body and straps are light gold in color, adorned throughout with a darker gold floral motif. The rubber heel is fixed to the sole using steel tacks. A small, rectangular brand is burnt into the center of the sole. Two small tags are likewise adhered to the underside of the sole. Japanese characters appear on the rubber, brand and each of the tags.

A small, clear, plastic bottle filled with a yellowish white liquid. A green cap is screwed onto the top of the bottle and a black label, covered with printed white Japanese characters, is wrapped around the body. The entire bottle is contained within closed plastic.
Tomb Figurine (2002.03.0001)

A small ceramic figurine, hollow on the interior, depicting a standing male figure with right arm raised. The figure wears a black robe and hat, with a white belt and pants. Much of the pigment is heavily worn and/or covered in a thick light brown patina. The figure's face is likewise covered in a white pigment and his lips have been painted with bright reddish orange pigment. The figure's right hand has broken from his arm. Holes run through the center of each of the figures hands.

A large ceramic vase with small, circular base, tapered walls, and widely -flared shoulder. The mouth is roughly the same diameter as the base and is circled with a short, slightly flared lip. Two large bronze rings are threaded through ornate, forked decorative handles at either side of the vase. The handles resembles fish tails with large bumps on them. The body of the vase is light tan with a mottled design in darker tan, less evident near the foot but more prominent toward the mouth of the vase. There is a short diagonal scar on the shoulder and an S-shaped scar on the inside of the rim.

A short, circular bronze lid. Three equally-spaced rings, each adorned with an inscribed motif on either side, project up from the top of the lid. A larger, metal band, presumably used to lift the lid, is threaded through a small projection at its center. The lid is somewhat oxidized and and covered with a small amount of white patina.

A large, irregularly-shaped ceramic plate. The plate is slightly raised from the ground, resting an a short, ringed foot. The interior depicts a stylized, reddish orange reptilian image with large teardop-shaped black eyes, heart-shaped open mouth, black arms and claws, and black spines. The image is set on an off-white ground, bordered in black. The rim and underside of the plate are unadorned and reddish orange in color. The underside and are gray from wear.
Yorgem(?) Flute (2002.03.0005)

A short, carved, dark brown wooden flute. The flute is hollow on the interior. The end of the flute is forked with the sides projecting forward and tapering to a dull point. Just below this end, small rounded projections emerge from either side. A small hole is drilled through the center of each of these projections. The mouthpiece is slightly flattened in relation to the rest of the flute, with a single hole cut through the end, flanked by four holes running perpendicular through the flute and out the other side. Incised striations, cut at an angle, adorn the top and bottom of the mouthpiece. The forked end is likewise adorned with incised striations on either side.
Canelos Quichua Jaguar Stool (2002.04.0001)

A large image of a jaguar with jaws open and head turned to the right is carved from a single piece of dark red wood. The ears point upward and are slightly recessed on the obverse. The face is wide with oval eyes, a rounded nose and a cleft lip. Large irregular circle with small, inscribed, centralized dot motif adorns the majority of the body. Lines are carved into the A round, thick tray-like seat structure emerges upward from the jaguar's back. Green felt-like textile is adhered to the base of two of the creature's paws.

A solid black band encircles the ankle while a second, thicker band running down the back of the shoe terminates in a small tab at the back of the ankle. A pale green band borders the black band at the ankle and rear of the shoe. A grey strip of fabric rests between the thick sole and the body of the shoe.

A solid black band encircles the ankle while a second, thicker band running down the back of the shoe terminates in a small tab at the back of the ankle. A pale green band borders the black band at the ankle and rear of the shoe. A grey strip of fabric rests between the thick sole and the body of the shoe.

One left, pink Chinese booty, tapering toward a vertical beige band at the toe. The shape of the ankle is low at the back, heel area, gradually rising at the midsection and dipping back down at the toe. Echoeing the shape of the ankle, a black band and two decorative beige bands circle the ankle with the two beige bands continuing down the heel.
