Artifact Identification Agawen, Snail Gathering Basket (2007.15.0007)

Visual Description Wicker basket with square base which broadens out into rounded shape near top and attached looped handle. The basket has four protruding strands beginning at each of the base’s corners which run up the basket and end just before the basket rounds off. Two light brown loops on opposite sides of the basket, to which the basket’s handle is attached, are fastened to two of these strands. The basket has a circular opening on top with a bamboo (?) rim around it. The inside of the basket is very dirty. The basket’s outside is heavily worn and abraded over its area.
