Artifact Identification "Peleacon" Bark Cloth Mask (2000.01.0054)

Visual Description A mask with a long barkcloth hood and a carved balsa wood face. The hood is cut evenly at the base and opens widely on the reverse. Frayed barkcloth, tipped in a black pigment, adorn the top of the hood. The narrow balsa wood face is sewn to the hood using a light brown fibrous string. The eyebrows and beard of the piece are painted black and a thick, curved black band crosses the middle of the forhead.
