Research Remarks

Published Description N/A
Scholarly Notes 9/14/2006: “1996.24.0605, 1996.24.0606 and 1996.24.0607A-B are generally all the same. Oil tanned rawhide. Holes punched with hole punch. The box was painted after dried. There is no red flannel material at the edges. Not a typical Sioux design. All of these things suggest non-native made. 1996.24.0605 and 606 are one piece construction, while 607 has a top and bottom." - Don Tenoso, Lakota Sioux, Artist, 9/1/2006
