Research Remarks

Published Description N/A
Scholarly Notes The heddle pulley suspends the parallel guides of the warp threads on the loom. They are generally small, highly personal objects carved by master carvers or by the weavers themselves. This pulley certainly represents a bushcow whose horns are broken off. There are indications on the piece that the horns were present - probably an old break. - N. Hawkes 11/5/98. Attribute for this piece acceptable Lamissa Bangali 6/5/99 SEE also 90.10.197, 146-147,55 (1) Wood weaving pulleys. 90.10.197-198. Gift of Dr. and Mrs. Albert Carozzi.
