| Visual Description | Carved wooden face mask with round tubular projecting eyes, broad nose, gaping mouth with inserted iron teeth, pointed wooden mustache applique, ornamented with animal hide, hair, and fur. The bulging forehead projects over the face and is covered by a cotton textile wrap securing a frame of pointed wooden ornaments attached with small steel nails; three small stuffed balls of material wrapped in cotton textile sit atop the head. Animal hide and fur surrounds the eyes, mouth and nose. A large iron loop is driven into the top of the head. The reverse is hollowed and the edge pierced with circular holes. The surface is stained dark brown with white pigment on the chin and the eyes. | |
