Visual Description Rounded, full wooden face mask, the top framed by a rolled cotton textile to which three rows of cowrie shells are sewn with red cotton string. The facial features include: two horizontally slit eyes, a projecting triangular nose, and projecting mouth with 8 metal teeth inserted in the top lip. A "V" shape incised scarification mark reaches from the top of the bridge of the nose across the forehead. A row of circular perforations lines the edge of the mask. The reverse is treated with brown stain and reveals a metal staple securing a filled crack, and a metal loop affixed for decorative suspension. The front is covered with a dark brown stain and abraided around the eyes, nose, and mouth.
