Research Remarks

Published Description In this example, a school teacher inscribed one of the popular proverbs of that time, and the student copied it on the reverse: "In the town of the Vagrants, the lame is a courier."
Scholarly Notes One of 1732 Sumerian Clay Tablets. The tablets were probably not baked originally, but in 1980, George W. Conlee in Ceramic Engineering baked 1751 pieces from the collection. I have not yet accounted for the numerical discrepancy here. The number on the piece is the old WHM number. (See also 1913.14.0001)
