Is that mummy REAL?
Why does that statue have no arms?
Only two people wear the barong ket costume? But, it’s huge!
Visitors of all ages are fascinated by artifacts. They’re what make museums unique among educational institutions. They are the things people actually made and used, often “far, far away” or “long, long ago.” The Spurlock Museum provides a wide variety of ways for bringing people, artifacts, and cultures together, and the Education Section is looking for volunteers who would like to share the experience as Tour Docents or Special Program and Event Assistants. Job descriptions for these two positions (as well as other opportunities) can be found on our Employment and Volunteer Opportunities page.
The Education Section will be holding two Volunteer Information Sessions in February where potential volunteers can learn more about the Museum, the programs and events we offer, and how Tour Docents or Special Program and Event Assistants fit into the big picture. The first session will be Thursday, February 18 from 10 AM to noon. The second will be Sunday, February 28 from 1:30 to 3:30. Please contact Kim Sheahan at 217-244-3355 or ksheahan@illinois.edu (email link) if you would like more information or if you would like to sign up for one of the sessions.
