July 27th, 2003
The Spurlock Museum hosted Archaeology Day on July 26th, 2003. The
day was filled with four activities designed to teach kids about
the wonders of archeology. Sarah Wisseman, Museum volunteer and
Director of UIUC’s program on Ancient Technologies and
Archaeological Materials, led the participants in a discussion
of what archeology
is all about. Next with Museum Educator Beth Watkins, students
explored the difficulties of underwater archeology and played
a game about
shipwrecks and their artifacts. Helen Burch, another Spurlock
volunteer, gave a slide show about different types of gravestones. |
