Mastaba Tomb

There are two openings to the Mastaba tomb; the one on the east is considered the entrance and the one on the west is considered the exit. On the exterior of the Mastaba tomb, to the right of the entrance, two text panels introduce religious practices and burial practices in ancient Egypt. To the left of the entrance, a large text panel with multiple graphics introduces the Mastaba tomb and a small display case affixed to the side of the tomb holds a small funerary artifact. To the right of the exit, a commemorative stele stands on a pedestal.

Inside the Mastaba tomb, the visitor encounters a series of graphic panels and artifacts. Three painted scenes will be created to represent burial offerings as well as fishing and fowling scenes of the sort typically found inside tombs. A small display case features several small funerary artifacts. A plaster cast of a false door is mounted along an interior wall. The visitor may peer through a small opening in one wall to observe an encased statue of the deceased (reproduction).
