Sumatra Textile

Sumatra Textile - New Acquisition
Cream-colored textile with black and red-brown patterned stripes and tassles at top and bottom.

A generous donation from Ellen Cole Miller, this Batak textile was collected in Prapat, Lake Toba, Sumatra, in 1979. This type of textile would have been used as a ceremonial gift for special occcasions such as weddings and funerals.
