Freund Collection of Chinese and Japanese Wood Carvings
1999.13.0003
This collection of forty-two Japanese and Chinese wood carvings and associated materials was received as a generous gift of Mr. Fred A. Freund.
2000.20.0001
Donated in two parts between 1999 and 2000, the artifacts date from the Edo (1614-1868) and Meiji (1868-1912) periods in Japan and from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in China. The subject material depicted includes an assortment of human, animal, and abstract images.

For more detailed information on the Freund acquisition, please check out its collection highlights.

Most of the artifacts in New Acquisitions articles are chosen to allow website visitors to explore artifacts that are not on display in the Museum's galleries. Try searching the database or exploring the Virtual Tour to find artifacts on display.
