This
collection of forty-two Japanese and Chinese wood carvings and associated
materials was received as a generous gift of Mr. Fred A. Freund. |
 |
|
Donated in two parts between 1999 and 2000, the artifacts date from
the Edo (1614-1868) and Meiji (1868-1912) periods in Japan and from
the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911) in China. The subject material depicted
includes an assortment of human, animal, and abstract images. |
